Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe

Q: Do you want a bedtime story, or a spanking?
A: I wanna do eeny, meeny, miny, moe.
That was the exchange I just heard between my husband and my youngest daughter, Sophia. She is acting up a bit today, and we just can't put up with that.

It is to be expected though. We have family visiting. 6 of their cousins are here to be exact. And with so many different personalities, she tends to either pick up on behaviors we don't like, or simply acting out to stand out. As for the question above, in the end, I believe she chose the bedtime story.

We did have a pretty good day today. We ate at Ichiban, our favorite Japanese hibachi grill. The kids love that place, as do we. The last few months of my pregnancy with Sophia, we were eating there 2-3 times a week.

Then we went to see Space Chimps. I did not enjoy this movie. I usually do o.k. with kids movies, but this one just didn't hold onto me. I actually slept through a large chunk in the middle of it. Tony apparently did as well. We had the kids in the middle of us, so all was well.

It is a rare occurrence for me to fall asleep in a movie. Tony does it at almost every kid movie, but I usually make it through them. I don't know it the movie was really that bad, or if I am simply that exhausted. I'm trying to tell myself it was the movie.

Well, I'm off to bed. It is 10pm, and this is late for me. During the week, I'm usually fast asleep by 9pm. But I get to sleep in tomorrow (not sure how many people consider 7am sleeping in), so I am living it up tonight.

Ahh... Sweet Procrastination

Q: Why do today what you can put off until tomorrow?
A: My point exactly.

So, I'm a big procrastinator. I've been trying to think of something to write about for several hours now. To be honest, I'm still drawing a blank.

My oldest daughter, Brooklyn (she's 7) sang a solo at church last night with the kids choir. Needless to say, it was beautiful. She really makes her Mommy proud.

I'm off now to look for a Jedi costume. No, not for me. Although, I would make an awesome Jedi. Benjamin's 6th birthday is coming up, and considering his obsession with Star Wars, it is a natural choice. Not to mention the Star Wars bedding he'll be getting, and Star Wars The Force Unleashed for the Wii... Woohoo.. He's been waiting for that one all year long... It technically comes out a week after his birthday. But he's o.k. with waiting for it.

Is it My Turn For A Hug?

Q: What do you do when you get insulation in your eyes?
A: If you are anything like me, run to the bathroom crying, and stick your head in the sink under running water.

Another day of work, another day of missing my kids terribly. I know it has been over a month since I started working, but I am still not used to this whole being away from my kids thing. My thoughts through the day range from, "Has Tony brushed Sophia's hair today?" to, "What permanent effect will spending so much time away from me have on my kids?".

I come home everyday with a mix of emotions as well. I'm usually quite exhausted, but I feel like I need to spend every waking moment just holding the kids. I usually end up in a chair with all 3 of them piled on top of me. We will spend an hour or so that way, watching t.v. together. I get pretty jealous if one of them decided to get up and go sit with Daddy. I mean, haven't they had enough of him already?

I'll leave now to ponder tomorrow's question. What does it say about life when my kids get excited about taking turns hugging me. Once more, what does it say that they even feel the need to take turns hugging me??

On a good note, we booked Brooklyn and Benjamin's birthday party finally. They are so excited. It will be all I hear about for the next two months. The Creative Discovery Museum!!! Fun.

Intro

I don't have much time to write at the moment, just wanted to make a quick post to get things rolling. I won't tell my life story in this first post, as that will come later.

Hopefully later I can actually write something interesting. For now, I'm off to tend to my wounds, and to eat a few Double Stuff Chocolate Creme Oreos. YUM
